The Recording System should be career based and role-related whereby the development needs of an individual can be described and the route by which they can be addressed is agreed and tracked. Such systems should be non-bureaucratic, should save management time, encourage people to feel that they “own” their development and in the collation of information and statistical data, help to inform the performance management process on a personal, group and organisational level.
In order to meet with the aforementioned criteria and to secure a capability of recording across a number of organisations, a bespoke browser based system is required. This system requires that all users have Internet access via a Personal Computer (PC) and a telephone line.
PDRpro is designed for the UK Fire & Rescue Service and is being rolled out for those in maintenance both retained and wholetime. It covers all roles. The new senior roles are now being rolled out. The eportfolio element of the system is one of the best in the country.
Fundamental to PDRpro is the ownership and access. Norfolk have rolled PDRpro to all retained staff giving those key members of staff a new and exciting way of recording training and more importantly evidencing conformation exercises from NOS's sub roles and equipment and appliances used. Compared to the old recording systems that use administrators to log training details PDRpro is realtime and accessed anywhere by the Firefighter, Crew and Watch Manager with the ability of Senior roles to evidence their role at incidents and supporting activities aswell
